About Me

My photo
m.gaudreau
Michael Gaudreau,a Signature member of the Pastel Society of America and the Maryland Pastel Society, is a painter, storyteller, and teacher born in Baltimore, Md. now residing in Bel Air, Md. "The natural world and the rural landscape have always been important to me. I grew up around water and boats and woods and streams so I am drawn to the countryside as a subject not only for the memories evoked but for the sense of joy it gives me just being there. I especially am drawn to the quality of light in the early morning and dusk and how it transforms and illuminates ordinary things like rocks or buildings and turns them into something extraordinary. When I look for subjects to paint I seek that “moment of light.” Michael received his Bachelor’s degree in Art Education from Towson University in 1974 and his Master’s degree from Parsons School of Design and Bank St. College of Education NYC in 1981. He has been on the faculty of The John Carroll School teaching Art since 1975. If you are interested in owning any of these works you can contact me at mgaudreau@johncarroll.org
